Our Mission

PM-Sherpa.com has a dual role in this web world:

1. To help Project Managers find, evaluate and select the best Project Management solution for their needs, and
2. To help Companies offering project management services or software to get the word out about their solution.

Our Values

Much like a newspaper or magazine printed on dead trees, we have two (2) constituents where serving the interests of one may at times be at odds with serving the interests of the other. And currently with only one (1) staff member we don’t the editorial wall that any high quality news source would have we do strive to do our best to honor both of our constituents.

So when there is a conflict between the needs and desires of our two (2) constitudents I’m going to do my best to err on the side that benefits the Project Manager. I’ve done this kind of thing before and know that the best karma comes to those who treat their readers with the most respect, but it really is just part of my DNA to strive for a high level of integrity. Now perchance you are a project manager skeptical of my intentions and are thinking “He doth protest too much” just let me say the following. The reason I state my bias so explicitly is so I can point here when dealing with sponsors and advertisers who on their behalf want me to violate that integrity I strive to maintain.

Our Vision

Unlike many people publishing sites on the web we don’t aim for world domination, at least not with PM-Sherpa as the vehicle. We only want to become the first place people think about when they need help finding a great projectment management solutions to address their current needs and of course do a great job for them too. Oh, and we’d also like to generate enough sponsorship income to make it worth our continued efforts.

Our People

While we hope to generate enough revenue from sponsorships that we can become more than just me, at the moment “we” is Mike Schinkel, president of NewClarity and founder and organizer of the Atlanta Web Entrepreneurs meetup group.

Our History

Okay, I’m not proud of this but this site’s immediate predecessor was a gripe site. While I’m not in the habit of putting my efforts towards such negative karma back in 2005 the people at one of the companies offering a Project Management solution upset me so badly that I felt compelled to let the world know about it. Once the site was online other people started sending me alternatives to the referenced company’s solution and so I decided to start post them to the site. Several years went by and then one day I woke to realize my little “sux” site I had become the most comprehensive list of project management solutions on the web!

Being a combination of a web developer, teacher and entrepreneur I thought: “Why not make this an honest effort and really turn it into the best resource on the web for people looking for project management solutions?” Besides, I had simmered down from my 2005 era frustrations and truth-be-told, the folks at that company were acting a lot more civil as far as I could tell. So I took my WordPress plugin development skills, spent some time learning graphic design on my new MacBook Pro and PM-Sherpa.com was the result! I hope you like it.

Oh by the way, you are probably dying of curiousity about which company it was that upset me so. If you must, you can read about it here. On the other hand, why not just let that be one of the things you always stay curious about?
