Project Management/Team Collaboration Tools
These project management solutions and/or online team collaboration tools expose an API (a.k.a. as an Application Programmer Interface) that is both documented and supported. These APIs allow 3rd parties to create add-on functionality and allow ambitious users to implement organization-specific custom functionality.
Not all APIs are created equal though. Some APIs only allow automation of the most basic of features whereas others are as full-featured as the services themselves. Be sure to fully research a solution's API before you dive head-first if you are going to need to use it's API. Caveat Emptor!
